Informational Sessions for Tribal, Local, State and Federal Governments
Engagement with local, state and federal political leaders is particularly important given the fact that tribal sovereignty and the tribal land base are continually threatened by the decisions, activities and interests of non-tribal governments. Although tribes face a variety of situations and contexts across the country, they often encounter resistance from state or local actors who try to restrict tribal jurisdiction, challenge the sovereign status of the tribe, or hinder efforts at land recovery. ILTF is seeking tribal governments that are looking to have meaningful and productive exchanges with local, state and federal government officials about Indian land tenure issues.
